Hidden Figures

I don’t have much to say about this one. It’s a remarkable story told in an absolutely unremarkable way. The film documents the invaluable contributions that a group of African-American woman made to the space program. It’s charming and very well done. This is not done in the style of a civil rights (women or black) film, it’s a classic space race movie. There’s no really ugly scenes of oppression, the antagonists are mild, and the protagonists are downright glossy. It’s just a really nice film about a really important topic that doesn’t push any limits and will be safe to show to every sixth grade science class in America. It’s just a really good film.
