Nothing really happens in this film and that’s just fine; you’re watching it to see Zellweger shine. It seems likely after a six-year hiatus from acting, Zellweger is going to sweep all of the major awards with an unbelievably spot on performance of Judy Garland. Six months prior to her untimely overdose death at 47, Judy Garland moved to London to perform to sold-out crowds. This film takes place during that winter, with flashbacks to Garland’s earlier life. If you’re looking for a biography of Garland, this ain’t it… And some might lament that. However, the film is clearly a star vehicle for Zellweger and she turns in an astonishing performance. See it to be blown away by her perfection.
