Where’d You Go, Bernadette

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I can’t you guys! I just can’t! A troubled genius tries to find her way back to herself in Antarctica?! With the company I went with, One Ocean?! On the ship I was on?! (Or her sister ship. The RCGS Resolute wasn’t in service yet at the time of filming. I sailed on the Akademik Sergey Vavilov. Since Resolute wasn’t in service, this had to have been shot on the Vavilov or her sister ship, the Akademik Ioffe. With set dec, it’s tough to tell if this is my girl Vavilov or Iofe, but it sure looks like my girl!) Anyhow, I spent the last half of the film yelling, “I know that hallway!” “I know that library!” “I know that bar!” “I know that bridge!” Sooooo… I’m probably not a lot of use here. I can say that Blanchett nails this complicated character and makes her come to life. There are great laughs in the first half, a not terribly believable transition to the second half, and some technical issues I have with the time in Antarctica. Sorry, but that’s just not how things work down there, but regardless, it’s the Vavilov!!!! (Or her sister.) And I couldn’t stop cheering. My opinion shouldn’t count here.
